100 year old Rustic grade Fir Flooring

Finish: Eukala Oil, top coated with liquid wood wax

Notes: This floor looked like it could not possibly be saved. In a previous renovation, it had been the recipient of numerous poorly executed board replacements and had been sanded down to literally a thick bond paper width away from the tongue. We initially figured we could use our fir hardwood floor specialty sander to take the bare minimum amount of wood off the surface. However, upon a closer inspection we came to the conclusion that it was so dry and cracked that the sanding machine would literally blow apart any and all weak “shakes” on the floor. When it seemed as if we may have to consider tearing the whole floor up and replacing it with reclaimed flooring, we decided to venture in to uncharted waters: hand scraping and hand sanding the entire floor.
